Unlock Your Local Area And Embrace Small Business Saturday This Weekend!

Small Business Saturday is coming this weekend and the Discover team are very excited!

This grassroots, non-commercial campaign, highlights small business success and encourages consumers to support small businesses. Small Business Saturday acts as a counterpart to Black Friday and Cyber Monday which are more focused on bigger businesses and online shopping. The campaign encourages consumers to support their smaller, local businesses by shopping at the brick-and-mortar shops within their communities.

Why is Small Business Saturday important to recognise?

1. Support for Local Economies.

By encouraging consumers to shop locally, Small Business Saturday is assisting local economies. It’s driving footfall and increasing dwell time in our local areas!

2. Community Connections

As people shop locally, they become more familiar with their community’s offerings and the people who run these businesses. This can foster a sense of pride and community identity.

3. Diversity and Innovation

Small businesses are a hub for diversity and innovation – some of the most unique businesses we’ve found are homegrown independents.

How can you get involved?

It’s simple really, get out the house and head to your local high street! Spend some time doing your Christmas shopping in the small businesses around you, you could even tag them on socials along with the hashtag #smallbusinesssaturday.

We showcase the small businesses on the Discover App throughout the year and the lead up to Small Business Saturday is no different! Keep an eye out on our socials, who knows what hidden gem you’ll discover…
