A Day in Mansfield

A day in Mansfield wouldn’t be the same without popping into one of the independent coffee shops. The award-winning Toffee Hut, which sits fairly close to the BID office on Regent St., has a menu with so many options – you’re bound to find something you love! Or Casey’s coffee bar serves all day breakfasts. Bakers and Baristas keeps our bellies full and Lucy’s café offers a warming sense of home from home. After something a little stronger than coffee? Capo Lounge has cocktails and coffee so you can cover all your bases!

After grabbing a coffee, bring Mansfield’s historical stories to life at the Mansfield Museum or take a visit to the Nottinghamshire Mining Museum! The ghostly stories in this area really are the gift that keeps on giving!

There are also a plethora of options within Mansfield for a mouth-watering evening meal. If you’re after a curry, Rima-Faz Indian Restaurant on Leeming Street offers great-tasting curries. Or perhaps Turkish is more your thing? The Horizon has you covered! At Rush Late Bar you can finish your food and get to dancing the night away!

A Year in Mansfield

We weren’t kidding when we said that Mansfield is the events capital of Nottinghamshire. With 15 events already in the calendar, there is consistently something to look forward to in the town! Here are just a few examples of what the area has planned for the year ahead…

1.     The Antique Craft and Collectables Market – Bi-weekly from 20th May

This bi-monthly market showcases the best of Nottinghamshire’s antiques and collectables on an over 700 year old market square, it seems fitting!

2.     Vegan Market – Bi-weekly from 3rd June

Discover a fantastic range of traders at Mansfield Vegan Market! Expect delicious hot food, sweet treats, skincare, zero waste homeware and more!

3.     Party On The Market – 4th June

June is shaping up to be a vibrant month! Party on the Market is a celebration of community, culture and entertainment with music, food and fun! The event will feature local outside bars and a selection of tasty foods. There will also be live music performances by several local bands and tribute artists. Rain or shine this event will be going ahead and it’s shaping up to be a big one!

4.     Armed Forces Day – 25th June

On the 25th June Mansfield will be hosting the annual Armed Forces Day event on the Market Place. The event will feature a parade of veterans, live entertainment, food vendors and a variety of activities for people of all ages. Following the opening ceremony, you can expect performances from the Ashby ‘little’ Big Band and The Blue Belles. The craft market will be running alongside food stalls and a display of army vehicles, motorcycles and a full-size Spitfire plane! PLUS for 2023, Mansfield will have a climbing wall!

5.     Mansfield Day – 26th August

A completely free, fun-filled day to celebrate everything Mansfield! The day will include archery, live music, food and more! Plus, free gifts will be available and competitions will be held throughout the day!

6.     Creepy Carnival of Horrors – 28th October

A spine-tingling, heart-pumping experience will be had at Mansfield’s Creepy Carnival of Horrors! On 28th October, the Market Place will be filled with thrilling and terrifying attractions suitable for all ages. Expect performers to leave you speechless and a scare maze to have you second-guess every step. Plus a ghost tour of the town centre that will send shivers down your spine! All of this is entirely free to enjoy!

7.     The Jingle Mingle – 25th November

The town’s pre-Christmas light switch on celebration. Discover an all new Christmas market featuring unique gifts from local artisans and vendors. You can also get involved by making your own Christmas gifts or competing in the Christmas Jumper Competition! Festive foods will be on offer alongside drinks, live music and entertainment.

8.     Mansfield Dickensian Christmas – 9th December

The Market Square will be transformed into a magical and festive wonderland, straight out of a Dickens novel!

  1. Mansfield has several notable buildings including the iconic Mansfield Palace Theatre, a Grade II listed building that still hosts a variety of performances.
  2. We know we’ve mentioned it before… but Mansfield is the events capital of Nottinghamshire!
  3. Mansfield was the birthplace of Alvin Stardust!
  4. The Market in Mansfield has been running for 700 years.
  5. Mansfield has a bit of a ghostly reputation! With multiple sightings across the theatre, town hall, library building and a few of its local pubs, it’s the perfect place to visit over Halloween!

If all of this isn’t enough reason to visit this historical town, then maybe knowing that Mansfield is flooded with independents will be! Not only are the market traders all independent, but there is a huge ratio of independents in the brick and mortar shops. From bakeries to hairdressers, pet shops and jewellers!
